Sam Conry is due to wed Paul Heritage at 99 Mary Street in Sheffield city centre on December 19, and had planned a reception for 100 guests to follow the ceremony.

However last week’s announcement that Sheffield would be in Tier 3, with a review only days before the planned ceremony, has meant that her hopes for the ceremony have been dashed.

Now, in a bid to ensure her’s and Paul’s wedding day is still special, Sam is searching around for a Sheffield company willing to prepare and deliver the newlyweds a ‘wedding worthy’ meal they can have at their home instead.

Sam explained: “We were originally due to get married in Sheffield with 60 guests and then 100 in the evening.

"Then lockdown happened and we realised that it would probably be cancelled. We had to get our heads round the new rule of 30 guests and then it went down to 15 guests and now we are not allowed a reception.

“We are just gutted really. It takes all the excitement away. You have in mind one thing that is going to happen and then you have to adapt to something else.

"Even now, there’s only three weeks to go and we still don’t really know what the day is going to look like.”

In spite of the string of setbacks, Sam and Paul are still determined to make sure their day is as good as it possibly can be.

"We had people saying we should postpone it but we wanted to remain optimistic because we thought it was the wedding itself that really matters.

"We are planning to make the best of it we can.

"We saved up for the wedding so we have got money to spend. We want somebody that can provide a wedding-worthy meal that could be delivered to our home. We don’t want to stop at McDonald’s drive-thru on the way home, basically!

Sam, who lives in Penistone, said that the couple are “open to suggestions”.

If you think you are up to the challenge you can contact Paul on [email protected].
