Jude Midgley wanted to do something to honour the memory of his grandmother, long-standing Sheffield councillor Pat Midgley, who sadly passed away from coronavirus in March last year.

The determined Hunters Bar Junior School pupil has been running 2.4km a day, sometimes with his cousin Rider for support, with the aim of running 60km in 30 days.

He has one day off every six days or so and has smashed his original £150 target to raise an impressive £1,200 so far.

Proud dad Neil said: “Jude enjoyed taking part in cross country events but unfortunately they are postponed due to Covid19.

"He struggled to motivate himself to practice without the target of the events, so we had the idea of a specific challenge to raise money.

"He was keen to raise money for the charities which his nan supported in memory of her.

“He’s been amazed at the amount of money he’s raised. The target was only £150 initially.

"He thought by increasing the distance from 40km in 20 days to 60km in 30 days he’d get more sponsors and it definitely work, it almost doubled.”

The funds will benefit ASSIST Sheffield, St Wilfrid’s Centre and the S2 Foodbank- all of which were charities close to his nan’s heart.
