Seven of the best places to eat, drink, shop and visit in Sheffield as lockdown eases next week

Sheffield’s independent retailers, pubs, restaurants and visitor destinations will be reopening from Monday, April 12, and we’ve collated seven of the best to support.

The ever popular ‘Under the Bed sale at Sheffield’s Cupola Gallery returns as the Hillsborough shop reopens on Monday.Prices of the artworks range from just £1 in the sale, which has been held for years.Time slots need to be booked to visit the gallery. Sharrow Vale is a fantastic place to celebrate independent shops and cafes, with dozens to choose from.

One of the non essential shops which will be reopening there is B Biscuit, a baby and children’s boutique located at Hunters Bar.

It reopens on Monday. “Roll on 12th April”, said the store in a post on Instagram. Nearby The Lescar pub is also reopening to bookings only.

Two Thirds Beer Co on Abbeydale Road launches its outside area on Monday – including a new kitchen run by Get Wurst.

Two Thirds has already taken over 500 bookings from Sheffielders keen to enjoy their drinks and food at the outside space.

Sheffield indie Get Wurst will bring the best of Berlin to Abbeydale Road with authentic currywursts, bratwursts and raclette cheese fries.

Sheffield city centre bar Gatsby has come up with an innovative way for people to eat and drink without needing to book.

Their new “hatch” serving from the Division Street will be open seven days a week, from 4pm midweek and midday on weekends, after Monday.

They said takeaway items would include cocktails, beers, Shy Boy burritos, Cuban sarnies plus ‘smiles, vibes, happiness and freedom.’

Independent food outlets will reopen at Orchard Square in the city centre from Monday, along with the centre’s retailers.

Terrace Goods and Macpot, which originally opened just before the first lockdown, will reopen to diners on an outside terrace overlooking the square.

Terrace Goods owner Richard Ledger said:" Our ethos is about positivity and creating good vibes - much needed in these times.”

“We are really looking forward to establishing a place where visitors can enjoy delicious food made from quality, fresh produce and drinks from our outside terrace area overlooking Orchard Square. We are proud to have one of the UK’s top 100 bar tenders on our team - Uken Ryan Taylor-Dixon - who will be launching our signature watermelon margarita cocktail. Food on offer includes pizza slices, hot chicken and sharing fries - per household obviously.”

At Graves Park Animal Farm in Norton, the team have been busy getting the animals looking immaculate for the reopening, as well as renovations to the farm.

There are new baby animals for the children to see, including a foal, lambs and a baby llama. You must book your free tickets for a 45 minute visiting slot in advance due to limited capacity at www.gravesparktickets.eventbrite.co.uk.
