Royal Mail is hiring for Christmas jobs in Sheffield: Here's how to apply

Various seasonal roles are up for grabs at Royal Mail hubs across the region, with the Royal Mail calling for thousands of temporary workers to join its ranks over the Christmas period - with jobs currently available in Sheffield.

The festive season is the busiest time of the year for the mail service, even amid the ongoing pandemic, meaning extra help is always needed to ensure letters and parcels arrive in time for the big day.

The Royal Mail is looking for Christmas casuals at its Europa Way base in Sheffield along with vacancies at its mail centre on Brightside Lane.

Pay rates are from £8.72 p/h to £9.40 p/h, with a range of shifts available including earlies, lates, nights and weekends.

A spokesman said: “Here at Royal Mail, Christmas is our busiest time of year.

"With so many parcels and letters coming through our warehouse doors, it’s no surprise that we need a few thousand extra helping hands to get everything where it needs to go.

"That’s why, every year, we hire temporary Mail Centre workers from all different walks of life to help us deliver Christmas across the UK.”

"Flexible and adaptable at all times, you will be doing a very important job. You’ll be helping us unload mail and parcels from our vans, moving them around our warehouses and then sorting them so they arrive at their destination safely – sometimes sorting over a million items in a single shift with your team!The Royal Mail’s wishlist for sorters is:

• You enjoy working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment• Being proactive and detailed focused is key• You are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift• You are able to push trolleys (up to 250kgs) and lift and move mail bags up to 11kg• Standing for long periods is comfortable for you• No previous experience is needed - don’t worry, we love new people• If you do have experience in warehouse or sorting work, with the likes of Amazon or another distribution company, then you are definitely on our wish-list too.
