Joshua Williamson, 15, and his friends Geriant Jeffries and Kiarn Rose were riding their bikes in Woodthorpe on Tuesday (June 16) when they saw a man having a seizure by the side of the road.

The three teenagers immediately stopped what they were doing and rushed to the man’s aid.

Joshua, who has a five-year-old brother who has epilepsy, recognised what was going on and put the man in recovery position and made sure he did not vomit.

The boys then called an ambulance and waited with the man until he was safely taken to hospital.

Joshua’s mum, Kay Williamson, said: “The boys were just knocking around on their bikes in the area when they saw the man.

“Many teenagers would have been scared and not known what to do. I know from having a child with epilepsy that seeing a person having a fit is scary.

“They knew what to do and they stayed with the man. I’m so proud of them.

“They should be praised for what they did. Teenagers in Manor are always criticised for their behaviour so it is important to give credit where it is due and recognise good things like this.”

A post congratulating Joshua and his friends has since gone viral on Facebook, with many praising the actions of the three teenagers.

Donna Brewster, who posted the picture of Geriant (on the larger bike) and Kiarn (on the smaller bike), wrote: “If these are your lads be proud!... them n their pal just helped a man who had a seizure. They phoned the ambulance n made sure he was OK till it came.. Enough publicity when young people do wrong round here, nice to see something positive!”

And Janet Anst wrote: “Brilliant. Well done boys, your parents should be so proud of you. I know I am and don’t know you.”
