Popular Sheffield restaurant told to make major improvements after one-star food hygiene rating

A popular Sheffield restaurant has been given a one-star rating for food hygiene.

Bosses at the Parthenonas, a Greek restaurant in London Road, have been told major improvements are required after a recent inspection.

The report said that a system of checks needed putting in place to ensure that food was safe to eat and staff understood food safety.

The inspection, carried out on December 5, said the restaurant requires improvement in the following areas:

Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage – general satisfactory

Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to enable good food hygiene – good

Management of food safety: System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future – major improvement necessary.
