Popular Sheffield cafe told to make major improvements after one-star food hygiene rating

Bosses at the Scrumptious Cafe in Ecclesall Road, Sharrow, have been told major improvements are required after a recent inspection.
The report said that improvements were needed in areas such as hygiene, cleanliness and food preparation.

Hide AdThe inspection, carried out on December 19, said the cafe requires improvement in the following areas:
Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage – improvement necessary
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to enable good food hygiene – improvement necessary
Management of food safety: System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future – major improvement necessary.

Hide AdWe have contacted the cafe for comment in response to the findings which have been published on the Food Standards Agency website.
The Food Standards Agency is an independent government department working across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to protect public health and consumers' wider interests in food.
Inspections are carried out on a regular basis at all premises where food is prepared, cooked and served, with ratings given from zero to five, zero being the worst and five being the best.
The Food Hygiene Rating scheme is designed to give customers clear information about the businesses’ hygiene standards and is run in partnership with local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
