The two-year-old crossbreed lurcher has been in the care of staff at RSPCA Sheffield since July, but after three months of support he is now hoping to find somewhere new to live.

Adam Spencer, of RSPCA Sheffield, said: “Bruce is a handsome gent who was brought to us by RSPCA Officers due to welfare concerns.

“When rescued, he was very underweight, had an appalling flea infestation and due to this was rather bald and had very scabby and sore skin which has taken months of treatment to make him well and comfortable again.

“We don’t have much information on Bruce`s previous life but we have found him to be a happy, friendly and loving lad and we can’t wait for him to find a wonderful new home.

“He is still on medicated baths to help keep his skin and fur in tip top condition and he may need to continue these long term.”

Bruce is ideally suited to a home where he can be the only pet and where any children in the household are of secondary school age.

Adam said: “He has been around dogs previously but he is very picky with his friends and much prefers his own company and to not have to share his resources.”

Adam described Bruce as polite and well mannered.

He said: “A polite and well mannered boy, he loves spending time with his carers having a lovely exploratory walk or some relaxation.

“He walks well on the lead and we have trained him to walk in a muzzle as he can be a little too interested in wildlife and fast moving small creatures around him.”
