Police confirm sighting of missing Sheffield man as welfare concerns grow

A missing man from Sheffield was spotted in the city yesterday as concerns for his welfare continue to grow.

David John Fox, 43, went missing from the Beighton area at around 10am on Tuesday (28 April).

Police said it is possible he could still be in the area following a confirmed sighting of him at around 7.30am yesterday morning (Thursday) at the Tesco Express on High Street in Beighton.

Acting Inspector Neil Wait said: “David has now been missing for two days and we’re growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“We’ve received a number of reported sightings of David that we’re currently trying to confirm or rule out, so we can understand where he may have gone after leaving home on Tuesday morning.”

David was wearing a grey woolly hat, a khaki green jacket and blue jeans, and was carrying a large dark-coloured backpack when he went missing on Tuesday.

Mr Watt added: “Beighton is quite rural and is very close to Rother Valley Country Park, so we have officers out looking for David in the more rural areas.

“If you have seen David while out on your daily exercise or while travelling on an essential journey, do please let us know. If you have any information about where David might be or where he’s been over the last couple of days, we’d also be really keen to speak to you.”
