Police appeal for witnesses after pedestrian dies in fatal crash on M1 near Sheffield

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal crash on the M1 near Sheffield overnight which claimed the life of a young man.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway of the M1, just prior to junction 38, at around 7:05pm on Saturday, October 24, following reports that a white Toyota Hiace had collided with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 33-year-old man, sadly died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally named by police, although his family have been informed.

The motorway was closed in both directions for around six hours while emergency services carried out their work.

South Yorkshire Police said no-one else was injured during the crash.

Officers are asking anyone who saw the collision, or who may have dashcam footage that could help with their enquiries, to contact them.
