Platinum jubilee: Woodseats tree planting honours Queen's 70-year reign

Members of the Woodseats Community Garden joined the congregation of St Chad's Church to plant a tree celebrating the Platinum Jubilee on Sunday.

The holm oak tree was planted in the community garden which is being created in St Chad's Church Field.

Vicar Rev Toby Hole performed the ceremony helped by Nathan Edwards and Rupert Allen who have been instrumental in the project.

The planting followed an all-age communion service in the church and the celebrations also included cake and prosecco.

Toby said the tree had been planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

"It was a delight to be able to mark and celebrate our Queen’s platinum jubilee and at the same time show people the tremendous work that is going on in our community garden,” he added.
