This photo gallery reveals the extent of Michael Collins’ giant memorial structure, which was recently erected in a Sheffield cemetery.
Michael Collins, described as a “legend” and “the true blue of Sheffield”, passed away aged 51 in December 2024.
Just over two years later, a gigantic black marble memorial honouring Michael and his life has been installed in Shiregreen cemetery.
It is located just across from a similar sized and styled marble tribute to Michael’s brother, Willy, dubbed the “King of Sheffield,” who died in 2020 at the age of 49.
Included within the latest ginormous structure is a marble bench commemorating the lives of Michael and Willy, along with two more Collins brothers - Anthony and Terry - who have also sadly passed away.
Below a picture of the four fallen brothers, is an etched caption reading: “Sheffield Collins Brothers.”
Paying tribute to Michael, one of his loved-ones told The Star: ”He was a loving father, uncle brother husband and son and grandfather.
“His brother was Willy Collins and is buried across from him.
“He lived in Sheffield throughout most of his life being part of the Sheffield Collins traveller family, he was known as the true blue of Sheffield and one of a kind.”
The gargantuan memorial to Willy attracted headlines after it was first erected at Shiregreen Cemetery, in part because of a row with Sheffield City Council (SCC) over permission for a structure of that size.
