'People need our support more than ever' - Sheffield charity thrilled by big donation
A Sheffield charity says people need its support ‘more than ever’ amid the coronavirus pandemic, as it received a big donation.
The faith group An Nasiha handed Weston Park Cancer Charity £1,000 which its members had raised as part of celebrations for the Islamic festival Eid.
Zia Khan told how the group had chosen to support the charity after hearing how care for cancer patients had been affected by the pandemic.
“We hope our small contribution can have a swift and encouraging impact on the fantastic work they are doing at Weston Park Hospital,” he said.

Helen Gentle, Weston Park’s deputy director of fundraising, said: “Right now, people need our support more than ever and this generous donation will ensure we can be there, together at every step for patients and families facing cancer.”
As well as making charitable donations, An Nasiha regularly provides food and drink for homeless people in Sheffield city centre.
