Alice said: “Marty was on the lead, but the other dog was not.

The owner chased after his dog presumably knowing what was about to unfold.

“The dog grabbed Marty by the head and shook him wildly.

“When the owner arrived I screamed at him to get his dog to stop, but he was reluctant to get involved.

“After some time the dog released its jaws from Marty’s head. I wrapped him in my arms and took him home and straight to the emergency vet.

“The left side of Marty’s face is completely destroyed and he has has lost his eye.”

After the harrowing attack, Alice has appealed for any witnesses, or anyone knows the dog and owner to contact police.

She added: “I am pleading with anyone who may have heard or seen anything at the time or may know who the owner and this dog is.

“The owner needs to take responsibility and if he can not control his dog he should not be be walking him off the lead.”
