New Doncaster Conservative MP says health secretary will visit Doncaster Royal Infirmary this year

Doncaster’s newly elected Conservative MP says the Government’s health secretary Matt Hancock will visit Doncaster Royal Infirmary this year to meet staff and patients.

Mr Fletcher, who ousted Labour’s Caroline Flint to be elected as Don Valley's first ever Tory MP at the December 12 General Election, revealed he had had a meeting with Mr Hancock and had invited him to visit the hospital.

Announcing the news on Facebook, Mr Fletcher wrote: ”Met Matt Hancock and he has agreed a visit to DRI in the new year.”

It has been a whirlwind few weeks for Mr Fletcher who was only in Parliament for a week before the Christmas recess and who has spent time since his election setting up his Parliamentary office.

He is due to return to Westminster on Monday when Parliament reconvenes.

Mr Fletcher has lived in Doncaster all of his life and was born in Armthorpe where he also attended school.
