'My heart is broken': Family friend pays tribute to Sheffield woman after body is discovered

A heartbroken family friend of a woman who was reported missing last week has paid a touching tribute to her following the discovery of a body in Sheffield.

Jessica Lowes, aged 37, was reported missing by her partner after last being in the Handsworth area of the city shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, June 24.

Officers involved in the search revealed they had discovered a body yesterday evening.

Although the body has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of Jessica.

Her family has been informed and are being offered support by specialist officers.

In a heartfelt Facebook post a family friend of Jessica, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “My beautiful baby you are at rest. I changed your nappies, I watched you grow, I was there at all your milestones.

“I loved you, your mam Julie and your dad Andy as family. I was so proud when I met your girlfriends and came to your wedding.

“My heart is broken but I know you are at peace with your mam, I will never forget you bonny lass.”

Originally from Newbiggin-by-the-sea, in Northumberland, Jessica had only recently moved to Sheffield to be with her girlfriend and worked as an installation engineer for Sky.

Jessica was born Julie Ann Cunningham but preferred to go by the name ‘Jessie’.

She often used the surname Hardy when she was younger and later kept the surname Lowes after separating from her ex-wife Sarah.
