Mourners pay respects at funeral for Meadowhall crash victim Tommy Hydes

Grieving friends and relatives turned out to pay their respects to Tommy Hydes at a ceremony at City Road Crematorium today.

A funeral cortege left the family home at Chestnut Avenue, Killamarsh, and made its way through the city to the crematorium.

Tommy, 24, a new dad with a three month old daughter, died after the car he was travelling in with his nephew, Josh Hydes, 20, left the bridge at Meadowhall around 7pm on January 30.

The white Mercedes GLS, which Josh had been driving when it ran out of control, landed on its roof in the River Don.

Firefighters, ambulance crews and police were all involved in a rescue attempt in the fast-flowing Don in which they tried and save the young men.

Sadly neighter could be saved and Josh also tragically died. Josh’s funeral was held earlier this week.

A police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is under way.
