Missing Sheffield woman found ‘safe and well’ after desperate appeal
A Sheffield woman missing for two days has been found safe and well.
Melanie Vernon, 28, disappeared on Thursday, June 10, after last being seen in the Pitsmoor area of Sheffield
The 28-year-old’s cream bag, containing her laptop, a phone, and some personal items, was found on Smithfield Road in Gleadless Townend on Friday morning.
South Yorkshire Police and her sister issued an urgent appeal for information as concerns for her welfare grew on Friday.
Melanie’s sister Emma said: “I last spoke to her around 3 pm on Thursday, and she sounded happy and in good spirits, but nobody has heard from her since.
“Melanie is not familiar to this area, and I don’t know if she’s been out walking and got lost.
“She hasn’t made contact, and I’m so worried for her. The police were alerted straight away when I was contacted about her bag being found.
“Please share her picture as we need to see if Melanie has been picked up on any CCTV in the Sheffield area.
“Please check your CCTV door cameras, and get in touch if you have seen her out walking or seen anyone looking distressed.
“We just want her home. We are so worried and just need to keep looking.
“The police have been looking for her. She is classed as vulnerable. Please keep sharing her picture. Please help me find my sister.”
However, the force has confirmed that Melanie was found safe and well last night.
South Yorkshire Police said: “Thank you for sharing our appeal to help find Melanie Vernon. She has been found safe and well, we really appreciate your help.
