Sapphire said: “We only just started our business like a week and a half ago and we’ve made one hundred and fifty pounds from over sixty slimes. We’ve been really busy.”

Support from her friends and family has played a big part in her early success, with her grandparents and teammates at Hallam Rangers football club buying her products.

Slime is an alternative to stress balls and fidget spinners – and this has been valuable for Sapphire as she was diagnosed with Development Language Disorder (DLD) aged four.

Sapphire’s mum, Olivia Billing, said: “I’m massively proud of Sapphire, because I feel even if she doesn’t become an A-grade student, that is not the important thing in life. It’s about being creative, and we will support her with following any passion she has.

“School is very one-dimensional. This lockdown has given us the opportunity to teach different things that are life lessons because you wouldn’t do this at school – you wouldn’t have time. It’s been a great opportunity.

“There’s a lot of people saying about negativity in the press and saying that kids are going to be so bored and so behind, but we haven’t felt like that at all.”

Through reinvesting her early profits into high quality scents and ingredients, Sapphire has showcased an attentive eye.

Her sister Jasmine has created promotion videos for social media and her mum has taken charge of the marketing.

Sapphire has decided to keep her slime-making methods a secret, insisting she wouldn’t be as successful otherwise.

She said: “It’s a secret because everybody wants to know how to make it, but if everybody knows how to make it, they won’t buy it!”

The young entrepreneur is certainly ambitious and hopes she’ll become a millionaire from her business.
