Meet the Doncaster supermodel dating Dancing On Ice star Matt Richardson

He’s lasted just a few days on TV’s Dancing On Ice – but comedian Matt Richardson has something more permanent when it comes to love – and that’s his relationship with a Doncaster supermodel.

The comic, 29, was drafted in to the ITV show after fellow contestant Rufus Hound was forced to pull out after testing positive for Covid-19.

But he only managed one appearance in front of the judges before being kicked off last night’s show.

And it comes just days after he heaped praise on his Doncaster-born model girlfriend Sam Rollinson after landing a role on the popular skating show.

The coupe have been dating since 2015 – and he says Sam has kept him afloat during lockdown after the coronavirus pandemic left him out of work.

He said: “I was looking at a career change or to just leave the industry altogether, because it’s tough times.

“I am of a level where I’m on TV, but I’m not a big, huge name. It’s not like I’ve got stacks of cash lying around. I am currently skint because I’ve not worked a year.

“Dancing On Ice has been a career saver.”

And he’s proud that he has Doncaster girl Sam by his side: “As if I’m subtle about having a girlfriend who is a supermodel,” he said.

"When I’ve had a few drinks in the pub, I go, ‘Look, that’s her in that advert!’ It’s brilliant.

“But it is really cool because she is super successful, which I’m grateful for because she’s been supporting both of us for the last twelve months.”

The pair moved in together in 2017, with Matt previously saying: "She’s amazing. She’s the best human being I’ve ever met. She’s super-northern and down to earth."

She became a model when she was scouted when she was just 13 at Clothes Show Live at the NEC Birmingham with her mum and signed to Select Model Management.

She has since has appeared on the front cover of famous publications such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and has modelled for brands including Burberry, Dior and Chanel.

She is a former Hall Cross pupil and after completing her A-levels, at age she 18 moved down to London to pursue modelling full-time.
