Helping Yorkshire Poundies is an animal rescue charity based in the Rotherham area. They work with other shelters to rescue dogs that are on death row and to find them new loving homes.
Many of these dogs have come from unknown backgrounds. But what animal carers at the charity do know about some of these pups is based on their anxieties and scars on their bodies. Some of these dogs will require a lot of patience and training, but most of all love - something many of them have not felt.
There are some dogs that would love to live with children, other dogs, and even other cats. While some others would prefer to be the only pet in the home to have all the attention on them.
If you fall in love with any of the dogs below, please visit https://helpingyorkshirepoundies.co.uk/ to find out how you can adopt them, and also check out the full list of dogs as they have not all been listed.

5. Adorable Audrey
Audrey the jack russell is 14 years old and is looking for a retirement home. She is still very sprightly and loves to get out for an explore, but she has some arthritis and can’t overdo it on her walks. She is very friendly and confident and has shown no issues around other dogs. She could live with a calm dog and appears to be housetrained. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies

6. Baby Blake
Black is a four month old American bulldog who needs a large-breed experienced home. He is very confident, smart, and has some basic training. His new owners will need to continue his socialisation so he grows up to be a well behaved boy. He could live with a large neutered female dog, and a confident cat. He needs clear boundaries, structure and a calm home. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies

7. Cutie pie Kit
Kip may be 10 years old but he’s just like a puppy. He’s very fit, loves his toys, and will need a home where he can enjoy plenty of walks. He loves everyone he meets and cuddles on the sofa. As a patterdale, he likes to chase small animals and will need a cat-free home. He could live with a neutered female dog. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies

8. Sweet Summer
Summer is aged around 18 months and is a big, lovely, playful girl who loves her toys. She is very friendly and happy to meet new faces. She will need a strong handler who can give her some lead training as she can pull, but she generally walks well. She has been non-reactive to dogs so far but will need a pet-free home while she settles. She cannot live with children aged under 14. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies
