Minister Reverend Jonathan Haigh said: “Greenhill Methodist Church is well down the line of the construction of our community facility and re modelling of our premises for community use.

"We called it the 2020 vision and it all started in 2015.

"We have raised over £900,000. The work started on time despite the lock down - on April 27. It is due to be complete on October 31.”

"This was through money from church members, interest free loans from our regional and local church bodies, a grant from Viridor and a bequest.

"We now have enough money to complete it.

"It is a symbol of hope that the community will be able to gather again and it is our desire to offer hospitality and to offer excellent, safe premises for the community to enjoy using.”

The main church space is expected to be open from October 4 onwards and visitors will be welcome. There will be stewards on hand to welcome guests an to offer any help.

For over 200 years Greenhill Methodist Church has been serving the community in Greenhill, on the southern edge of Sheffield. Rev Haigh aded: “It is our aim “to know God, and to go and show his love to the people around us. In other words, we love to worship God, and to get to know Him better as we study His Word and pray together. We want to tell others about that love and show His love in action.”
