Looking back on another Tramlines, as 2026 show comes to an end

Rocking and Rick Rolling in Hillsborough Park

There was no need for Sheffield to get ‘Rick Rolled’.

The singer himself was there to entertain the city as Hillsborough rocked to a star studded Tramlines 2026 line up.

And he delighted crowds not only with his own set, including a surprise drum cover of Raye's Where Is My Husband?, but also by joining Blossoms on stage for a performance from their latest album.

The 80s hitmaker was part of a list of names this year.

Fatboy Slim brought the first day to a climax, with fellow headliners The Courteeners and Wolf Alice bringing Saturday and Sunday to a close. There were many other name acts like Blossoms, Kaiser Chiefs and The Coral, all performing in front of a packed Hillsborough Park, with 38,000 music fans attending.

One festival goer told the Star their highlights had been Fatboy Slim on the Friday, and Rick Astley. He said: “Rick Astley - just getting Rick Rolled in real life.

Others spoke of their delight at seeing Blossoms.

The Saturday of the festival saw many embrace the festival's first-ever fancy dress theme

It marked Tramlines' first-ever Fancy Dress Day, with festivalgoers embracing the letter 'T' in spectacular fashion.

Hillsborough Park was filled with everything from Tiger Kings complete with tigers in tow, to Teletubbies, TY Beanie Babies, characters from Toy Story, and even a traffic cone, all competing for tickets to next year's festival.

Some of the artists revealed what they loved about Tramlines.

Sheffield artist Lavelle, who appeared on T'Other Stage, described herself as a grassroots artist who had grown alongside the festival. Having first appeared on one of Tramlines' smaller stages, she spoke proudly about progressing to one of the festival's main stages, crediting Pattern + Push with supporting her career while celebrating her sixth number one on the iTunes R&B chart.

She also praised the organisation's commitment to championing female artists and creating more opportunities for women across the music industry.

For Sheffield comedian Tom Wrigglesworth, performing at Tramlines remains a personal highlight.

He said: "It's the best day of the year in Sheffield," he said. "I come to this festival most years. If I'm not on, I'll come here and bring my kids."
