Local Sheffield resident flies in the back seat of a wartime Spitfire from Biggin Hill

Sheffielder Joan Elliott was strapped into the back seat of Spitfire MJ627 on Friday May 7for a flight over Kent known as ‘the Battle of Britain County’.

Flown by resident pilot Jez Britcher, it was a case of ‘girl power’ as the aircraft soared over the lush countryside giving Joan the thrill of a lifetime.

Joan was given the opportunity after winning a competition in the Daily Express newspaper last year.
