Kyren Wilson grabs 147 maximum break for 13th time in World Snooker Championship history in Sheffield

A Sheffield audience witnessed the 13th ever maximum break in World Snooker Championship history today as Kyren Wilson bagged a 147.

The Kettering contender who was a finalist in 2020 scooped up the achievement in his opening-round match against Ryan Day at the Crucible today.

Ryan Day, the British Open champion, took an early 2-0 lead with a break of 75 – but the world No 7, runner-up at the Sheffield venue in 2020, struck back with clearances of 133 and 83 to head into the mid-session interval with the match all square at 2-2.

Wilson ploughed on and finally brought home a perfect clearance, sinking a final black after hoovering up the colours.

It was the 13th maximum ever seen at the Crucible and bagged Wilson a one-time £40,000 bonus. There is also £15,000 on offer for the highest break, which he would get if nobody else matches his 147.
