A kindhearted Sheffield girl is walking 50 miles for Sheffield Children’s Hospital to help make youngsters feel better.

Eight-year-old Poppy Paisley is taking part in the 50-mile challenge to celebrate 50 years of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and 150 years of Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Poppy, who has spent time as a patient at the hospital due to febrile seizures, wants to do her bit to help other children there feel better again.

Just under three years ago, she donated 16 inches of hair to a charitable cause.

Poppy volunteered for the latest challenge when her dad - a mental health specialist nurse at the hospital – made her aware of Theo’ 50 for 50 challenge.

So far, she has raised over £1,400 from more than 100 different donors – smashing her original goal of £200.

Poppy and her family aim to complete two miles of activity a day to achieve the target.

However, energetic Poppy sometimes wants to do more and recently completed four miles in Clumber Park.

The family aims to do different routes each day, so that each trip out is an adventire rather than a chore.

Poppy said: “When I was a baby and toddler the hospital helped me when I was poorly. Now I want to help other poorly children.

“Whether you donate £5 or £500. Every bit helps. Thank you so much for your support.”
