Keep your windows closed, residents urged, as firefighters tackle large blaze in Rotherham

A large fire at a recycling centre in Rotherham has sent thick smoke billowing into the air, with residents warned to keep their windows closed.

Around 30 firefighters are tackling the blaze in Wath-Upon-Dearne.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said at around 6am this morning, Thursday, July 16, that there is a ‘large amount of thick smoke in the area’.

"Local residents and those in Mexborough are advised to keep all windows and doors closed whilst we tackle this fire,” it added.
