'Just when you think things can’t get worse' - animal rescue centre's heartbreak at neglect case

An animal rescue centre in South Yorkshire has taken in one of, if not the most, emaciated dog its volunteers have ever seen.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Helping Yorkshire Poundies said: “Just when you think things can’t get worse… along comes poor, poor little Bambi.”

Bambi is one year old and has a body score of just 1/9.

Helping Yorkshire Poundies, based in Rotherham, added: “She is one of, if not the most, emaciated dogs we have ever seen .

“She has been rescued from living in a small crate in her own mess. She has urine and faecal staining all over and urine burnt sores on her poor little paws.

“She has been starved for a long period of time…she weighs just 10kg.

“She can barely walk as she is so emaciated and has absolutely no muscle on her.

“We really are heartbroken to have to introduce you all to this poor little girl to you, and we are sorry for any upset caused by the photos, but we really felt that she needs and deserves to finally be ‘seen’ be shown all the love, and begin her journey to the life she’s always deserved.

“Please send our special little girl all the love and if you can, please donate for her care - she has a long road ahead, but we’ve got her.”
