The 30-year-old, who police described as an "innocent bystander," was remembered at Sheffield Cathedral in a celebration of her life just over a month after she was fatally shot outside the One Four One bar on West Street.

The memorial service began at 2pm.

Rather than bringing flowers, mourners were asked to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity Shanice had been fundraising for before her death.

In a post shared on Facebook before the celebration of life, her family said: "Shanice was in the process of fundraising for this charity, as it was a cause that was very close to her heart. As a family, we would like to honour her wishes and continue the work she had started."

Shanice died after a gun was fired in the early hours of Monday, May 25, following an altercation nearby.

South Yorkshire Police said the confrontation took place on Eldon Street, near the junction with West Hill Street, shortly before the shooting.

A short time later, officers were called to reports of gunfire on West Street, where Shanice was found with fatal injuries.

Her death sent shockwaves across Sheffield, with tributes pouring in from across the city.

In a statement released after her death, Shanice's family said: "Shanice had the biggest heart and the kind of energy you could never forget.

"She was a deeply loved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend and godmother, as well as being an amazing mum to her son, who meant the world to her.

"To her cousins, she was more like a sister – someone they could always turn to for love, laughter and support. Shanice was also due to graduate from university, a reflection of her determination, ambition and the bright future ahead of her."

The police investigation into Shanice's murder remains ongoing.

Jemele Rhone, 30, of Outram Road, Wybourn, has been charged with murder, possession of a handgun and possession of criminal property, namely £10,000.

Deiryen Dyce, 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Burngreave, is accused of assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of heroin, cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property, namely £2,000.

They have been remanded into custody ahead of a trial with a provisional date set for January 2027.

Last week, South Yorkshire Police announced three more arrests linked to the investigation.

Two 21-year-old men and a 31-year-old man, all from Rotherham, were arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the altercation on Eldon Street immediately before the shooting.

They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

As criminal proceedings continue, police and the courts have urged people not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding Shanice's death.

At a hearing in June, the Recorder of Sheffield, His Honour Judge Jeremy Richardson KC, warned that comments made online which could prejudice a future trial may breach the Contempt of Court Act 1981 and could result in prosecution.
