Five passengers suffered injuries in bus crash in grounds of Sheffield hospital, police reveal

Five people were hurt when a double decker bus crashed in the grounds of a Sheffield hospital, it has been revealed this morning.

A double decker struck an overhead obstruction in the grounds of the Northern General at around 10.45pm yesterday.

The bus crashed close to the main entrance to the Chesterman wing, when the top of the bus struck a roof covering across a road.

Police officers alerted to the incident reported that five passengers sustained facial injuries in the collision.

The driver also suffered minor injuries.

Police officers sealed off the bus while enquiries were carried out at the crash scene and they left the hospital at around 1.30am.

Bus operator Stagecoach has been contacted for a statement.

South Yorkshire Police said the driver ‘forgot’ they were behind the wheel of a double decker.
