Driver fled the scene leaving shopper injured after car smashes into Sheffield shop

One person was injured when a car ploughed into a shop in Sheffield this afternoon, and police are searching for the driver.

A silver Ford Mondeo was left embedded in the wall of the Ladysave cosmetics shop in Firth Park following the crash this afternoon.

Police said one person who was inside the shop, at the corner of Bellhouse Road and North Quadrant, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called to the scene just before 1.30pm this afternoon, Thursday, June 11.

“It is reported that the driver of the car left the scene shortly after the incident occurred, and enquiries to trace this person are ongoing,” she added.

She said that Sicey Avenue, at the bottom of the junction with Bellhouse Road and Stubbin Lane, was closed.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 611 of June 11.
