The town was named in second spot in the annual rundown – moving up from fourth place on last year’s list.

And to make matters worse, the rankings are decided by people who live in that town – with Doncaster just missing out on top spot to Peterborough which took the crown for the second year in a row.

More than 80,00 people voted for the worst place to live in England 2020 – with Doncaster being edged up to runners-up spot in the survey by website I Live Here.

Doncaster has been named one of the worst places in Britain for the second year in a row.

A spokesman said: “Half of last year’s towns failed to get in the top 10, making way for some new dirt holes. Has your town made it into the Hall of Shame?”

Doncaster’s entry said: ”A last minute viral share on Facebook, nearly took the coveted crown for Doncaster. There is always next year!

“Ahh Donny, famed for not much else other than being the birthplace of Thomas Crapper, the bloke who invented the flushing toilet. According to our contributors, this skidmark of a town seems to be already half way around the U-bend.

“A night out in Donny is magical, with bums sitting on steps drinking White Lightning near the old Purple Door strip club or the Jobcentre and lovely ladies with near nothing on, looking to volunteer to contribute to Doncaster’s rising pregnancy rate.

“If you have to come to Doncaster, don’t make eye contact with people in town, avoid parks and estates, and for the love of god use a condom.

“Watch as the local beauties, flabby flesh pouring out from over tight short skirts – ageing 50 somethings in kids’ gear trying to look like Britney Spears… a god awful sight.”

Last year, Doncaster was named fourth worst place in England in the rundown and dubbed a “s**t hole’ with ‘attractions' such as ‘smack and rat-infested flats’ and ‘chavettes with near nothing on looking to volunteer to contribute to Doncaster’s rising pregnancy rate.”

It was one of six Yorkshire towns on the list – with Rotherham being ranked fifth, while Huddersfield, Halifax, Keighley and Wakefield also made the top ten.
