Mother-of-two Nichola Kershaw of Hyde Park said her family home was burgled in the early hours of Tuesday morning (December 3) when they were all fast asleep.

"Between 1am and 3am, we were burgled while in bed. They have taken every electrical item we owned downstairs," she said.

The stay-at-home mum said she was alerted by her neighbour who saw three men carrying a bag leaving their house in a car, believed to be stolen.

The 32-year-old said the thieves had taken their valuables, along with the Christmas presents meant for their daughters.

"They also took away sentimental Christmas stuff left by my parents who died a few years ago and I can't replace any of them now," she said.

She said the break-in also meant that they have lost their source of income as the thieves had run off with a set of tools belonging to her partner, who is a mechanic.

"They took away my partner's work tools. Without them, he cannot work and bring a wage home," she said.

Her 14-year-old daughter has also been left traumatised by the incident.

"My daughter is petrified and won’t even leave our sides. My seven-year-old stepdaughter was not around when this happened,” she said.

Nichola said she had then decided to reach out to the public for help by setting up a Gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/f/help-a-family-that039s-lost-everything

"I would just like to get some help so my partner can go back to work. He's a mechanic and without his tools, he can't work.

“It's so close to Christmas and I'm literally going to struggle like mad to replace (the) items. So please if you could donate even a little to help us then please do. Thank you so much xx,” she wrote in the fundraising page.

She said South Yorkshire Police have made an arrest and the suspects are now out on bail pending investigation.

As of Friday (December 6), she has raised £155 of £500 target.
