Doncaster cancer charity staff 'humbled' with applause and mince pies by neighbours

Neighbours in Scawsby came together to hand over £325 to Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support as part of a weekly socially distanced gathering.

Residents have continued the weekly round of applause for the NHS as well as swapping food treats.

A Firefly spokesman said: “What a humbling afternoon on a quiet cul de sac in Scawsby.

"The warmth of the community who came out at 3pm as they have continued to clap and cheer and rattle frying pans as a thankyou to the NHS and key workers.

"Denise who loves baking has supplied cakes and an assortment of buns that the neighbours since way back in March, have gladly devoured after making a donation.

“The mince pies were especially good and how lovely it was to see all the neighbours chatting and planning their next Thursday get together.”
