Film crews have taken over streets across the city and part of iceSheffield during recent weeks for the teen skating show.

Netflix has revealed more about the plot and cast for the 10-episode drama, which is scheduled to hit screens towards the end of the year.

The drama revolves around 15-year-old figure skater Kayla, who is forced to leave Canada for the UK when her twin brother Mac wins a place at a legendary hockey academy.

Pad Two at iceSheffield has been transformed into the fictional Hammerstrom Ice Hockey Academy for the show, which Netflix says features a fully skating cast and is being shot in a ‘fluid camera style’ to make the audience feel like they are sharing the ice with the characters.

Tim Compton, one of the executive producers, said: “The twin worlds of hockey and figure skating are rich with story. And there’s so much talent out there; we’ve found a truly international cast of young actors who are genuinely skilled on the ice.”
