A man in his 40s has tragically died at a popular Peak District beauty spot.

The man was found at Derwent Reservoir, in the car park close to the Upper Derwent Visitor Centre, on Saturday, October 19, shortly before 4.30pm.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, said Derbyshire Police, and his family have been made aware.

Police are trying to trace for the American tourist who found him.

They said the tourist had left the scene before officers arrived, and they are keen to speak to him as a witness.

Derbyshire Police added: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances in relation to the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

“If you are the American tourist, or know who he is, then please contact us using any of the below methods, including reference 849-191024.”
