Bernard Little, a Green Party campaigner in Walkley ward, said the Sheffield Council should install a safe crossing place near the junction of Whitehouse Lane and Fox Road.

Bernard said: “This came about because I witnessed a mother and her two infants from Philadelphia estate narrowly avoiding being hit by a car going up Fox Road to Upperthorpe.
“This particular junction is very dangerous - even when drivers are being cautious, it can still lead to close calls.

He said Sheffield City Council needs to do more to make the roads safer for pedestrians as many members of the public now choose to get around by walking or cycling amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
“Dangerous driving – especially on residential streets - has become a much bigger problem across Sheffield over recent years and Sheffield City Council needs to do whatever it can to make our roads safer for pedestrians,” he said.
