This time, organiser Kathy Markwick said the event is aiming to raise funds for her chosen charity, Bluebell Wood Hospice.

She said: "We have also chosen Bluebell Wood Hospice as Christmas is such a special time for all children."

Kathy said the hospice was chosen due to her links with one of the patients, 19-year-old Olivia Windle.

Olivia was born with the rare nervous system condition and diagnosed with incurable genetic conditions called Juvenile Batten's Disease that affects only three in every 100,000 children.

In September 2017, her parents introduced Olivia to Bluebell Wood and it has since given the family invaluable respite.

Her mother, Michelle Windle said: “Bluebell Wood is such a welcoming, friendly place that supports the whole family.

"Olivia always has an amazing time when she stays, she enjoys listening to her favourite films in the cinema room and relaxing in the spa bath.

"Bluebell Wood is where we can forget all our worries and just be a family creating memories”.

Welcoming the move, Anna Gott, Regional Fundraiser (Barnsley and Rotherham) for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Kathy for holding a special Great Get Together/ Superjam party to help support local families going through some of the toughest times imaginable.

“While Christmas parties are certainly going to be a little different this year, Kathy’s pulled out all the stops for this extra special event which is not to be missed.

“We know it’s going to be tough for so many people this winter who can’t be near friends and loved ones, so this is the perfect way to connect with others and spread some festive cheer.”

The Great Get Together Superjam would normally be held at the Holiday Inn Barnsley but has been cancelled until further notice due to the pandemic.

This event, which will be held at 2pm on December 3, will be a free online show and entertained by local duo Stevie Moore and Patricia Lynn.
