The design features Sheffield’s Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill along with boxer Nicola Adams cyclist Laura Kenny, footballer Steph Houghton, Paralympic athlete Hannah Cockroft, rowers Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins, cricketer Heather Knight, bobsleigher Shelley Rudman and tennis champion Serena Williams.

Birkdale Prep welcomed girls for the first time in September 2020 as the school went co-educational. In the coming years, boys and girls will be part of the family at all ages from age four to 18.

Chris Burch, Head of the Prep School, said: “These sportswomen are an inspiration for us all and I hope this amazing mural encourages all our pupils to be the best they can in every subject.

“It shows how lucky our young people are to have inspirational individuals who they can aspire to emulate within our school, across Sheffield and beyond.”
