The team at Cannon Hall Farm has been praised by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in recent weeks for its part in helping to keep the nation’s spirits up during lockdown - with 132 consecutive daily broadcasts.

And now brothers Robert and David Nicholson have signed off with a special rendition of a piece of music many will recognise from The Last of the Summer Wine, led by one of their farmers, John Hopkinson.

Robert Nicholson, whose family opened the Barnsley farm as a visitor attraction in 1989, said: “We are absolutely honoured that so many people have tuned in.

“We would have never expected that we would be broadcasting live to thousands of people a day all across the world – and we’ve had so many lovely letters and emails from people saying how watching our broadcasts has helped them through this tough time.”

Younger brother David added: “We want people to know that we will never forget the support they have given us at this time - it has kept us going as well.

“And we will be continuing the lives twice a week to make sure we keep in touch with everyone.”

The Nicholson brothers received a Commonwealth Points of Light award from the Prime Minister last month, in thanks for their cheery updates from the family farm.

The live broadcasts will continue on Fridays and Sundays at 7.30am.
