British man on honeymoon tests positive for coronavirus onboard cruise ship

He is among 41 passengers on a ship off the coast of Japan to have tested positive, Princess Cruises said today.
The company said those who have tested positive include one Briton and passengers from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Japan and the US.

Hide AdIt said: “The Japanese Ministry of Health has confirmed this is the last batch to be tested and the quarantine end date will be February 19, unless there are any other unforeseen developments. The Japanese government is also providing our ship and team members additional manpower support.
“During the remainder of the time onboard, guests will continue to be provided complimentary internet and telephone service to stay in contact with their family and loved ones.
“In addition, we have added additional live TV channels and a large selection of in-room movies available in multiple languages. The cruise activities staff are packaging games, puzzles and trivia and delivering them to guest staterooms.”
The British man will be separated from his new wife as he is taken off the ship for treatment, a fellow passenger has said.

Hide AdDavid Abel said in a video update posted on Facebook that he had been dining with the man, who was not named.
“He will almost certainly be leaving the ship today - real, real shame,” he said.
“I have no idea how he must be feeling ... they're on their honeymoon.
“He will be going off in to quarantine in a medical facility and she has to stay on board the ship because she's not displaying symptoms.”

The Government has released new advice for travellers from a list of Asian countries and territories also including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Macau, as well as mainland China.
It comes as a third person tested positive for coronavirus in the UK after contracting the disease in Asia, but not mainland China.
