Blades fans set to to pay tribute to supporter who died on night out during today's match

Sheffield United fans are expected to pay tribute to a fellow fan who died during a night out in Chesterfield earlier this month.

Joe Robotham, aged 23, was allegedly struck with a bottle over his head outside Vibe on Holywell Street, Chesterfield at around 3.50am on Saturday, February 8.

He was taken to hospital but could not be saved, and sadly died the following day.

Joe served in the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment for four years and had completed exercises in Canada, Lithuania and Oman.

He was described as a ‘Sheffield United fan and a football fanatic’, and ‘was loved by all and hated by none’.

Blades fans are set to pay tribute to Joe during the match at Bramall Lane against Brighton this afternoon, with a minute’s round of applause at the 23rd minute.
