Bikers to escort Sam Haycock on his ‘final ride’ ahead of tragic teen’s funeral

The family of a teenage boy who died after getting into difficulty in Ulley Reservoir late last month have appealed for bikers to escort him to his final resting place today.

Sam Haycock, aged 16, lost his life in the reservoir at Ulley Country Park on Friday, May 28.

A huge search and rescue operation involving multiple agencies was mounted after frantic friends raised the alarm to report him missing.

The announcement was made on a Facebook page ‘Final Ride for Sam’ that was set up by his family.

The post read: “Sam and his family have always been fond of bikes, so at the request of the family they would like bikers to escort Sam to his final resting place.

"It will be a short journey to the crematorium from the family home."
