The eye-catching artwork graces the bedroom of 10-year-old Harri Parker, from Killamarsh, who was born with half a heart but devotes his time to helping others.

It is the latest masterpiece from Chris Ashmore, who wanted to create something special for Harri after hearing his inspiring story.

Chris invited deserving candidates to apply for a free mural before Christmas, as he had done the previous three years, and from the many applications he received it was Harri's which really stood out.

The mural itself was painted in one day but it took a week to prepare the wall, with help from Chris' assistant Ashley Lockwood and plasterer Pop Obrien, who also gave his time for free.

Chris, a 33-year-old artist from Gleadless, said: "I chose Harri because he's such a nice lad who's not very well himself but still selflessly gives up his time to help other children."

The mural is based on Harri's cherished photo of him and Dean Henderson, with whom he has struck up a heart-warming friendship – and the youngster is delighted with the finished product.

“It’s my favourite picture of me and Dean, and now I can see it every day," he said.
