'All-time high' demand as Hathersage Swimming Pool set to open this month - and you can book your membership for priority booking
One of the area’s most popular outdoor swimming pools will allow people to take a dip from the end of this month, with memberships available from today – but get in quick as demand is expected to be at an ‘all-time high’.
The popular Hathersage outdoor swimming pool on Oddfellows Road in Hathersage will be allowed to reopen from Monday, March 29 after the Government announced the return of outdoor sports facilities as part of its roadmap out of lockdown.
The pool will open with a ‘soft opening’ until the end of March, with the full timetable commencing from Thursday, April 1.
Despite good news about the reopening, capacity has been ‘more than halved’ due to Covid restrictions – and demand for membership and tickets is expected to at an ‘all-time high’.
A spokesperson for Hathersage Swimming Pool said: "We anticipate demand for the pool to be at an all-time high for the first two weeks of reopening.
"This is due to indoor facilities remaining closed until April 12 as we ease out of lockdown.
“This will most likely lead to a surge in demand for outdoor recreation.
"It is also the school Easter holidays and of course everyone has missed swimming outdoors at our beautiful pool.
"We will be continuing with our online booking system so that everyone can be guaranteed entry to the pool before making any unnecessary journeys.
"This does mean tickets are likely to be in high demand and sell out quickly so please keep a look out for more information on the release date and time of tickets.”
Capacity has also been reduced due to restrictions, with members able to book from next Wednesday, March 24 and non-members from March 26.
Booking swimming pool membership will open tomorrow, March 18, with a number of perks.
Members will be allowed to attend quieter members-only sessions, get priority booking 48 hours before general release, have unlimited use of the pool from March 29 to April 30 and benefit from savings.
The pool will be releasing tickets weekly to reduce the need for cancellations and give everyone a “fair chance of booking sessions.”
Opening hours will be announced soon and memberships can be purchased by calling 01433 650 843 from tomorrow, March 18.
