There are many newcomers at this Sheffield animal shelter that need a home.
Patterdales, Lurchers, Spaniels and Staffies are just some of the breeds Thornberry Animal Sanctuary is currently caring for.
The animal charity, based in North Anston, is working hard to find homes for more than a dozen dogs. This includes the incredibly affectionate Hettie the German Shepherd who was sadly found as a stray, playful Barry the Bulldog who needs someone to show him love, and 11-year-old Roxie who needs a cosy retirement home.
If any of the following wonderful dogs catch your eye, make sure to fill out an Animal Enquiry Form on Thornberry’s website.
More of a cat or small furry person? Thornberry Animal Sanctuary also has a number of felines, hamsters and rabbits ready for adoption.

Two year old Tilly is a young Greyhound who has a lot to learn about the luxury of a family. She is an affectionate girl who enjoys the company of her Greyhound friends. She could live with another sighthound or as the only pet and with children aged 12+. She is petite in size and past her initial nerves when arriving she is a lot of fun.
Pluto is aged just under two years old and is a complicated young boy who has so much potential in the right home. Pluto has shown guarding behaviour both in his previous home and is defensive around his kennel – out and about he is a joy once introduced, and is particularly fond of his favourite kennel hand James. Pluto has lived with another bulldog and could do so again providing they are a good role model for him. He can live with adults only but is housetrained.
Whiskey is aged around four years old, and is a very complicated little lady who needs a lot of support to help her re-adjust to home living. She needs an adult only home with experienced dog owners that can work with her to build on her confidence with new people and dogs. She must live in a quiet environment and have a securely fenced garden area of at least 6ft plus. A rural setting is ideal. It is essential that Whiskey has no leaving hours initially, and they must be built up very slowly with realistic expectations that she really struggles to be left alone. Whiskey is a fantastic little project dog, given the right environment and training she has so much potential. She loves to play with the ball and will happily do this for hours.
