The 22-year-old film maker, who lives in Dore, agreed to say goodbye to a lifetime of long hair with a radical new look that has already raised more than £600 for the organisation that aims to support and empower young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to learn the necessary skills they need to become independent.

And letting nothing go to waste, the unwanted hair was donated to the Little Princess Trust, the charity which makes real hair wigs for children with cancer.

Adam, who works in the media department at Crystal Palace Football Club, first encountered Roundabout when he was volunteering with the National Citizen Service.

“I am very lucky to be in the position I am in but not everyone is the same,” said Adam.

“Having seen the work that the Roundabout team do, I know just how important it is in supporting young people when they are their most vulnerable.”

The first step in completing the transformation was to plait the 15 inches of hair, making it easier to cut off and send in the post.

And after that, it was a case of reducing what was left to a uniform 3mm all over trim.

“I really love it now it’s all gone and it really has made a massive difference,” Adam admitted.

“You get so accustomed to having that heavy weight on the back of your head that you don’t realise how much it even affects your balance.

“I’m a real convert and I’ll definitely be keeping it at this length now from now on.

“The really great thing is that I really didn’t expect to raise this much money - it’s definitely been worth doing.”
