Friends have paid tribute to the ‘absolute diamond’ and set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral.

It has raised more than £4,974 of its £5,000 target.

Writing on the page, organiser Chris Agacy said: “This man is an absolute diamond he would give his last quid to you so can we please all help his mum and sister give him the best ever send off.”

Mr Maxfield’s friends have taken to social media to pay their respects.

Rebecca Hannah posted: “I can’t even believe that I am writing this, in total shock and disbelief. I am heartbroken for everyone who was lucky enough to know him and love him. He was there for everyone else no matter what and could make me laugh even on the very worst days.”

And Nicholas Senior wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking stuff, gone far too young Maxi lived his life to the fullest and bought so much happiness to everyone around him can’t believe it.”
