'Absolute diamond': Tributes pour in for much-loved Sheffield man Jay Maxfield killed in tragic car crash

The man who died in a car crash on Bawtry Road, Brecks, has been named locally and a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral has been st up.

The man who died in the crash on Bawtry Road, Brecks, on Saturday night has been named locally as Jay Maxfield and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for the 31-year-old’s funeral.

Jay was a passenger in a blue Volkswagen Polo which left the carriageway before coming to rest on its side.

The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Friends have paid tribute to the ‘absolute diamond’ and set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral.

It has raised more than £4,974 of its £5,000 target.

Writing on the page, organiser Chris Agacy said: “This man is an absolute diamond he would give his last quid to you so can we please all help his mum and sister give him the best ever send off.”

Mr Maxfield’s friends have taken to social media to pay their respects.

Rebecca Hannah posted: “I can’t even believe that I am writing this, in total shock and disbelief. I am heartbroken for everyone who was lucky enough to know him and love him. He was there for everyone else no matter what and could make me laugh even on the very worst days.”

And Nicholas Senior wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking stuff, gone far too young Maxi lived his life to the fullest and bought so much happiness to everyone around him can’t believe it.”
