People urged to boycott bank over fracking ties

Sheffield residents are being urged to boycott Barclays bank due to their investment in controversial energy fracking.

Sheffield Against Fracking has made the plea amid reports the banking giant owns 97 per cent of Third Energy, the company granted permission to frack in the North Yorkshire village of Kirby Misperton.

This will form part of a UK-wide week of action to highlight Barclays involvement in ‘the start of industrialisation of the UK countryside’.
