Residents claim they were taken to a police station along with a man after tree fellers arrived on Rustlings Road, Endcliffe, in the early hours of this morning.

They claim that neither Sheffield Council nor contractor Amey, which is felling trees as part of a city-wide road improvement programme, notified residents of today's tree felling plan.

It is also claimed that South Yorkshire Police officers started calling at homes while people slept asking them to move their cars so that the tree felling machinery could be moved in.
